In vitro fertilisation IVF literally means” fertilised in glass” and is a technique where a womans ovaries are stimulated with drugs to produce a number of eggs that are then collected and fertilised by sperm from her partner, the resulting embryos are then grown outside the body in Incubators and the best embryo is then replaced into the womb when it is most receptive, for full details of procedure please see our information leaflet.

Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a modification of the IVF technique that was developed to help patients where the partners sperm results demonstrate a level that would make it difficult to fertilise the eggs to achieve a pregnancy, with this technique a standard cycle of IVF is performed, but after the eggs are collected a single carefully selected sperm is “injected” into each egg to achieve fertilisation. For full details of this technique please see information.
